International Study

Visas
If you plan to study in the United States, you must be accepted for a full course of study by an educational institution approved by the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS) and obtain one of the following visas:
  • F-1 (Student Visa) for full-time students enrolled in an academic or language program.
  • J-1 (Exchange Visitor Visa) for students seeking practical training that is not available in their home country to complete their academic program. Under the J-1 program, you must return to your home country for a minimum of two years after the end of your studies in the U.S. before becoming eligible to apply for an immigrant (permanent residence) visa to return.
  • M-1 (Vocational Studies Visa) issued for students attending non-academic trade and vocational schools.

Contact the American consular office in your home country or visit BCIS Online to obtain visa application procedures.
